"This listing was completed by Richard S. Jorrey in November 1996. Verification was difficult in some cases because of the age of some stones. I have done the best job I could under the circumstances. The cemetery has three sections and the listing below shows the location of the marker as either Left Section, Center Section, or Right Section."

Our appreciation for preparing this long cemetery goes to Marilyn Allis.
Marilyn's husband's family resided in Herkimer County in the early 1800s, being primarily located in Salisbury and Little Falls. Presently she is researching the families of direct line ancestors Allen W. and Catherine Stebbins Eaton, and has recently provided us with their obituaries. All of their children were born in Little Falls:
"Catherine STEBBINS (sister of Dr. William Burrell Stebbins) b. 20 Jul 1818, Salisbury, d. 28 Feb 1899, Oxford ID
Allen Wyman EATON (brother of Volney Eaton who married Alida Herkimer) b. 5 Aug 1817, Little Falls, d. 4 Feb 1900, Oxford ID
Apparently Mr. Eaton was publisher of the Mohawk (N.Y.) Courier from 1856-1861. I appreciate any help you can give me. Marilyn Allis" Email: mjrallis@mindspring.com
**Note Added 14 Sep 2005:
"There is a couple of errors on the cemetery page. It has Reuben Steel as 1789-1853. The stone has been broken and the top is missing, but it says wife of Reuben Steel, which would be his wife Sally. There is a foot stone with letters S S on it. (Sally Steel) The other error is on the gravestone of Myron Bloodough. It says he was born in 1814, but upon examining the stone it is very clear that it is 1844.
Sally is my 3rd great grandmother." - Willis Rankins
The transcript of Fairview (formery Rural Grove) Cemetery was contributed to the Herkimer/Montgomery Counties NYGenWeb by John A. Kingsley and Elaine Carlin, Salisbury Town Clerk.
If your ancestors are on this list, please request a search from the Herkimer County Historical Society. Neither Marilyn nor I have any information on the people buried in this cemetery.
