From Diane Good of Kansas on 11/14/97:
Thank you! Your site is wonderful. I have located my great great grandmother Caroline
D. SLADE RIDER, buried in the Goodier Cemetery. I also discovered that her father-in-law, Wakeman
Rider, was town assessor in Litchfield in 1870. That would be just before he and his sons, William
and Joseph Rider (William with his second wife Helen T. Rider) and families moved to Adams County,
Iowa. They purchased a farm that later became a century farm. Last October we buried my grandmother
in the cemetery taken from that farm. That cemetery, the Nodaway City Cemetery, also is the resting
place for William, Helen, and Leon Wakeman Rider (son of William and Caroline). I had wondered what
happened to Caroline, and now I know. I am still searching for information concerning those familes.
I received a photo album from my grandmother with photos taken in New York in 1948 with names Elmer
Rider, Sam Rider, Fred Rider, Olive Goodier, and Eugene Goodier among others. I do know that Leon
Wakeman Rider was a twin, but I do not know which of his siblings was his twin. I also do not know
what happened to father Wakeman and his wife Hannah E. (whom I also discovered through your site),
nor to Joseph and his family. My grandmother was named Ruth Hannah Rider Good, and now I know that
name came from her great grandmother! Thank you very much for listing the names from tombstones in
your local cemeteries. I know how much work that is. My husband and I both work for the state
historical society and visit cemeteries on our vacations. Thanks for helping me find my ancestors
and best of luck with your fantastic web site. If anyone has information on this family (where
the Riders and Slades came from and which Slade family Caroline was from), I would appreciate
hearing from you. Thanks again!

Hi Lisa, Here's a couple of pictures taken this summer. I enjoyed the item on the Cedar Lake
Church and thought maybe others might like to see it in color. Also a quick shot of the
Cedar Lake Cemetery located not far from the Church. My Grandmother Rider is a descendent of
Aaron Goodier.
