Mary E. Lewis Dies At Old Age; Had Been in Failing Health for Some Time

Mrs. Mary E. Lewis, 85, died at 2 o'clock this morning at the home of her daugher, Mrs. L.F.Holloway, 248 East Linden. She had been in ailing health for some time and gradually became weaker until the end.

The deceased was born in Frankfort, N.Y. on June 8, 1838. She lived there for some time, being united in marriage at that place October 20, 1859.

Afterwards she lived in Illinois and moved to Fremont in 1902 with Mr. and Mrs. Holloway. Mr. Lewis died on September 7, 1910.

Mrs. Lewis was prominent in circles of the Congregational Church; in which she took an active part. Although at an advanced age, she always exercised her power to vote after women were given the right of franchise and as long as she was able to be taken to the polls enjoyed casting her ballot.

Surviving are four children. Henry L. Lewis of Beatrice, Mrs. L.F. Holloway of Fremont, F. A. Lewis of Exeter and Mrs. C.D. Roscoe of Norfolk.

Funeral arrangements have not been made.
