Shrader Farm, 6N of Herkimer
Bill McKerrow: "The Shrader farm was formerly owned by my great-grandfather Wm. McKerrow and was called Crystal Spring Farm. H.M. Quackenbush was a distant cousin and the owner and founder of the Quackenbush factory in Herkimer. Back then they made air rifles. Great-grandfather (one arm) McKerrow was also a New York State Cheese Inspector. They made cheese there at the Shrader Farm. The picture at the upper right of each page is of a milk separator. It was used for separating cream from the milk. The cream was made into butter." |
Picture of the milk separator that was on the stationary the McKerrow farm used when billing H.M. Quackenbush for cheese.

Emma and Morris Knapp Farm, 6E of Utica
Betsy Voorhees: "I took this picture a while back because I always wondered if a famous person lived in this house. I finally found out the name of the persons who first lived there were Morris and Horace T. Knapp, the great-grandparents of a woman I was talking to whose parents were Emma and Morris Knapp listed in the 1939 directory. This house sits right on the side of the highway on Route 5 in Schuyler bordering a mobile home sales lot."
