Joel White FamilyRussia, NYInformation about Joel White and his family was contributed by Michele Perryman! Joel White was born October 20, 1750 in Coventry, Tolland County, Connecticut, removed to Massachusetts where he married Sarah Osborn about 1774, and then removed with his family to Russia, Herkimer County, New York about 1803 (then Norway), where he was a wheelwright and lived until his death on May 3, 1826. Joel enlisted as a Private in the Connecticut Continental Line during the Revolutionary War in Col. Israel Putnam's 3rd regiment in Capt. Ephraim Manning's company and served at the Battle of Rhode Island on August 28, 1778. He appears on the 1810 and 1820 U.S. Federal Census for Russia, Herkimer, New York. Joel and Sarah had the following children who survived to adulthood:
