Lisa Slaski / Town CoordinatorWould you like to know a little more about me... Click Here! I freely admit that I'm not an historian or a professional genealogist, nor do I have many resources available to me where I currently live. So, if you have specific questions regarding a family or the history of this township, please contact the Herkimer County Historical Society or the Town of Webb Historical Association or place a query on the Ancestry Message Board! But, if you would like to donate material for the Town of Wilmurt, please contact me! Wilmurt is a "ghost township", it's former land being the present-day townships of Ohio and Webb. Researchers often become confused as older texts and censuses refer to the Town of Wilmurt, yet on modern maps there is only a small hamlet in the Town of Ohio called Wilmurt Corners. By the 1920 census former residents of Wilmurt need to be searched for in the Towns of Ohio and Webb. Wilmurt's northern region continues on as the Town of Webb, named after Dr. W. Seward Webb. Webb, as was its predecessor Wilmurt, is New York State's largest township and an Adirondack vacation paradise, noted for the village of Old Forge, winter sports, camping, hiking, hunting and fishing.
