HERKIMER, N.Y., A VIEW OF THE WEST CANADA
#4 - Mailed August 31, 1910, to Master Harry Thresher, Van Buren St., Dolgeville, N.Y. from Harry. "Say young man,
will you look on the stand in the parlor and see if I left a note book and some letters there. If so will you please
send them to me. Hope you are well."
From Betsy: Bill McKerrow sent me this tidbit about his Wood family who lived on opposite sides of the creek.
"Another little note regarding your area. There is a small brook across the river from the County Home, Stoney Brook. There are
or were Herkimer Diamonds in the creek bed. My Dad used to pick them up when he was a boy nearly 100 years ago.
My Great Grandparents and Grandparents used to walk across the river in the winter to visit, and would yell over during the
summer. It was a pretty good step to go around via Kast Bridge or Middleville to visit in the summer with horses."
