Lynn's father-in-law is batboy Everett Wolfert, now 87 years old. 1921 Sunset League Champions - Ilion Volunteer Hose Company #2 Standing from the left: Roy Petrie, pitcher; Al Fraser, second baseman; Milt Buckley, first baseman. Seated are: William McCoy, fielder; Joe Albans, shortstop; Al Berckemeyer, catcher; Frank (Doggy) Wolfert, manager; Charles Paddack, fielder; Lloyd (Hap) Moonlick, fielder; Leo Meehan, fielder Front: Everett Wolfert, 8 years old, the batboy and mascot (son of the team manager). The bottom of the picture (not shown) says: Thompson Studio, Thompson Block, Ilion NY, 1921. The Sunset League Champions went on to win the championship in 1922 also. Other teams were sponsored by the Elks, Moose, Masons, IOOF, Hose Co. #1, Knights of Columbus and the Presbyterian-Baptist Church. The onslaught of the 1930's caused the league to dissolve. |
