Postcards of Cedar Lake
Town of Litchfield
Herkimer County, N.Y
Contributed and Described by Jim Murphy.

Title:
Cedar Lake, N.Y.
Description:
This is an early view of Cedar Lake in the town of Litchfield, NY. Today the "Lake" is owned by the Cedar
Lake Golf Course and Country Club with an 18 hole golf course, beautiful club house, restaurant and many
camps and homes surrounding it.
Barely visible on the skyline is a group of gray buildings that I believe was my great-grandfather's
(Hector Smith) farm. In later years (1930s) my grandfather (Lewis H. Smith) farmed the land around the
lake and it was known as Smith's Pond.
