TWO VIEWS OF THE VILLAGE OF LITTLE FALLS, N.Y.
What a beautiful place! Little Falls before the first World War. Little Falls still resembles these pictures and seeing it when taking the Amtrak along the Mohawk makes a strong impression. For me, passing by Little Falls on the train had always been a highpoint of the trip across the state. I wished there was a stop to get off to explore what looked like an enchanted kingdom, a mix of wild nature, rockface and vegetation, and early industry that looks...just...right. Back in 1997 Bill and Nina McKerrow took me on a driving tour of the county and we stopped off to see the lock, the park and war monument, and the restored downtown. If you're going to Herkimer County to do research this year, you must stop for lunch and walk around. Click on the picture above for a larger view and help us identify landmarks. If you can identify buildings, roads, etc. please let me know.
