1921 Graduation Program

Following is a description and transcription of a Newport High School Graduation in 1921. It should be posted in the Newport site.

The invitation is 5 7/8" wide by 2 3/4 " high. It is comprised of a front and back cover, and two pages in between. It is tied on the left end with a dark blue ribbon. On the cover is embossed Nineteen hundred twenty one in a circle surrounding the initials NHS. The first page is the invitation which reads,

requests your presence at its
Commencement Exercises
Tuesday Evening, June Twenty-first
Opera House

The second page contains the following data.

The significance of this invitation to me is that Mary Maxwell was a relative of mine. She was the daughter of James and Margaret Reardon Maxwell. James Maxwell was the brother of my grandmother Mary Ellen Maxwell McLaughlin who, obviously, married my grandfather Maurice E. McLaughlin.
