As she researches her own Civil War ancestors, Laura Perkins watches for mention of Herkimer/Montgomery men in every resource she comes across. In the past, Laura's preparation of lists and articles has given some of you the crucial lead to trace your roots back further within the counties. If you know a soldier's exact regiment and company, you can order his military and pension records from the National Archives. This month Laura put together information she found in four hard-to-find regimental books she discovered in Oneida County libraries. Men of the 146th NY Vol. Inf. added 6/27/99.
