MARRIAGES FROM THE "CHERRY VALLEY GAZETTE"
1818 - 1834

The marriages of local residents below were abstracted from an unpublished typescript bound in Volume 416 of the NYS D.A.R. Miscellaneous Records, submitted to the New York City Public Libary by the NYS DAR in 1974. No date, transcriber or chapter name was attributed to this work. As there were no explanatory notes whatsoever, missing was any statement as to whether the dates refer to actual day of marriage or date of publication of the newspaper notice. However, as our abstracted records of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Cherry Valley give an October 15, 1818 date for the marriage of Elijah Flint and Delina Phenes/Phines, while the date below is October 20, the dates are most likely referring to date of newspaper notice. Bear in mind that at this time 1) a marriage may have occurred weeks or months before publication in a newspaper, and 2) relatively few marriages were made note of in a newspaper.

All punctuation and spelling are exactly as in the typescript.
