The Will of Eseck Brown of the Town of Newport was graciously contributed

"This will is at the Herkimer County NY courthouse in Herkimer NY":
In the name of God Amen, I, Eseck Brown, of the Town of Newport in the
county of Herkimer, being weak in body and considering the uncertainty of this
mortal life but of sound and perfect mind and memory blessed be
Almighty God for the same, do make and publish this my last will and testament in
manner and form following (that is to say) first I give and bequeath unto my
beloved wife Ruth Brown the use privilege and occupancy during her natural
(sic) of the dwelling house garden and household furniture in common with my son
Orin Brown and my two daughters Cloe and Cynthia as is hereafter provided
for and further I do will and order that there shall during the life time of my
said beloved wife Ruth Brown be kept upon the farm eight good milk cows and
thirty good sheep and my said wife may and shall take care of the dairy or
cause the same to be done and have one half of the profits arising from the same
and also I do give and will unto my said wife Ruth Brown one half of all
the wool which may be produced from and by the said thirty sheep to be kept on
the farm as aforesaid and also I do order that there shall be kept on the
farm a good riding horse and saddle and bridle suitable for a woman to ride
exclusively for the use of my said wife Ruth Brown during her natural
life time and in case of old age or other infirmity which may come upon my
said wife Ruth so as to undo the above provisions or bequest insufficient to
support her in a decent and comfortable manner then and in such case I
do will and order that she shall and may have her maintainance out of the
profits of the farm on which we now live and I go give and bequeath
unto my three daughters which are married, that is to say Eunice Hawkins,
Betsey Ladd and Sophia Hawkins, to each and every of them the sum of one hundred
dollars in current money of the State of New York and further I do give will
and order that my two daughters which are not married (to wit Cloe Brown
and Cynthia Brown) may and shall have a home and residence on the premises
and within the dwelling house after my decease the same as they are now
living in the family and the same as they have heretofore done lived and resided
so long as they remain single and unmarried and they or either of them on
getting married shall and may have as good a setting out in household
furniture for to commence house keeping as any of their sisters which
are now married have had and also I do give unto my said two daughters Cloe and
Cynthia each the sum of one hundred dollars corrent money of the state
of New York to be paid to each of them on getting married as aforesaid.
And I do give and bequeath unto my son Orin Brown and his heirs and
assigns forever all that messuage or tenement situated in Newport aforesaid
together with all my other freehold estate whatsoever subject to the
stipulations legacys and privileges heretofore granted to his mother Ruth Brown and
to his several sisters to have and to hold to him the said Orin Brown and to
his heirs and assigns forever and I do give and bequeath unto my said son
Orin Brown all my farming tools stocks and personal property subject also to
the legacys stipulations and privileges heretofore granted to his mother
and sisters as above mentioned and I do hereby appoint my said wife Ruth
Brown and my son Orin Brown my executrix and executor of this my last will
and testament hereby revoking all prior wills by me made in witness whereof
I have hereunto set my hand and seal the eighth day of December in this
year eighteen hundred and nineteen. Signed sealed published and declared by
the above mentioned Eseck Brown to be his last will and testament in
presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses in the presence
of the Testator.

In addition by way of supplement to the within will and testament I
Eseck Brown do hereby will and order that the within legacys or sums of money
which are within collected and divided to be paid to my several daughters
Eunice, Betsey, Sophia, Cloe, and Cynthia shall and may be paid in meat stock
or grain at cash prices within one year after my decease that is to say to
those of my daughters which are now married and to those of my daughters
which are now single and unmarried the said legacys in stocks or grain as before
said shall be paid to them within six months after marriage as within
mentioned.
Given under my hand and seal at Newport 11th day of December 1819 we
who are subscribing witness to the within will and testament are also witnesses
to the additional supplement.
