It was noted on the May 25, 1926 typescript that this cemetery was near the "Herkimer Homestead". A comparison of this cemetery with the nearby Herkimer Homestead Cemetery shows interments of relatives. This particular cemetery is named after General Nicholas Herkimer and other members of the Herkimer family, who are buried here.
