IMPORTANT!!!!!!!! We're still plodding along reorganizing Herkimer and Montgomery files into the two new separate websites. Many inks within our town pages, as well as links to specialized index pages (e.g. cemeteries), and most footer links back to new main pages and other locations won't work. You'll have quite a few "files not found" - they're not lost but are being carefully put back into new locations, so ***please don't email us that a link's not working for you***. There is a functioning search engine, but surnames and town submission boards, aren't set up and won't be for quite a while. We must change links and cross-links to all files throughout the new Herkimer and Montgomery sites, re-install links to other websites, move files around, move files from one server to another, recode obsolete HTML code, and create new main entry pages. During this rebuilding process most of the back links at page bottoms won't work for some time, so please use your back-button. This is a BIG job, but things are s-l-o-w-l-y being put back into place, even if it's not obvious to you. We appreciate your patience as we must most carefully make these changes and it's tiring. ALL of the same content for Montgomery County NYGenWeb and Herkimer County NYGenWeb and special features from the previous combined site will be available as we get to it but we don't know how soon and can't give exact times and dates.

Just a reminder. The site coordinators are unable to respond to specific questions about their ancestors. Please use search engines such as google (which is what we'd have to do anyway), or direct all questions to societies and libraries listed on our historical articles page, or subscribe to a Rootsweb mailing list for your county of interest. What spare time we have to maintain this site is devoted to putting new information up /updating this site. All email asking for specific information will be deleted.
